Course Duration:     24 weeks  two days per week - Tuesday & Thursday.  (Minimum attendance of 45 hours prior to assessment)       

Entry Requirements:  This course is aimed at those who do not have GCSE English and is designed to improve the individual's quality of life and their employment opportunities.

Course Summary:   Includes: Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing. 

The course is built around themes such as:

  • Spelling,
  • Form Filling
  • Letter Writing
  • Work Related Skills, such as taking messages
  • Improving Communication
  • Written Presentation

 Entry Requirements:    All applicants will undergo initial assessment

 Course Details:   Learners develop the ability to:

  • speak, listen and respond
  • read and comprehend
  • write to communicate


Entry Level:  Desktop Task (Includes Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening (recorded)

Levels 1
:  Exam in January 2017 for Reading and Writing (Speaking & Listening assessed internally)

 Progression Routes:

Higher Level Essential Skills course or GCSE English

Course Commences  - September 2018 - dates & times to be confirmed
