First Steps Women’s Centre

Mr Anthony Tohill, CEO of the new Mid Ulster Council dropped into First Steps Women’s Centre (FSWC) 19th June 2014.  Mr Tohill met the staff and heard about the excellent work that the Centre does from the Centre’s 3 Co-ordinators, namely IT (Yvonne Corbett), Life Skills (Joan McCool) and Health Promotion (Clare Henry). He also visited the Childcare Centre.

Michael McGoldrick, Chief Executive of First Steps Women’s Centre explained that he had invited Mr Tohill down to see the Centre because he wanted to highlight and showcase the work that FSWC was doing. Michael explained that the new CEO was very impressed with all the work that was being done at the Centre. Mr Tohill heard about the 100% pass rate success in all 26  IT Courses at the Centre, how the Centre provides over 800 learning places per year and how FSWC’s Benefit Check Service had identified over £60,000 in unclaimed benefit in 6 months (from Sept 2013-March 2014).
